Mrs. Ann W. Smilnak, 80, of Altoona, Pa, died at 7:10 AM, Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, Pa after a brief illness.

Mrs. Smilnak was born in Altoona, Pa on October 6, 1939, daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Snively) Waring. She married John B. Smilnak November 13, 1965 in Altoona.

She worked as a Telephome Operator at Bell Telephone Co. Altoona.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona.

Ann was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of Altoona Choral Society and enjoyed her familt first, playing the piano, singing and crossword pizzies.

She is survived by her husband and a son John J. (Jennifer) Smilnak, of Duncansville, Pa; 7 bothers and sisters James Waring, of Lexingtopn, SC; Pat Herry, of Honolulo, Hawaii; Crag Waring, of Exton, Pa; John Waring of Cheraw SC; Jerry Waring, of Altoona, Pa; Susan Henry, of Altoona, Pa; and Nancy Merlini, of Altoona, Pa. Ann is also survived by 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters Suzie (Eric) Hooper and Elizabeth Smilnak and a sister Mary Jo Waring.

A Funeral Mass will be held a 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with Msgr. Stanley B. Carson Celebrant.

Committal Rites will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson, Pa.

Friends will be received from 5-7 PM Monday, December 30, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
