Anna “Ann” Marie Mercer, 83 of Altoona died Thursday February 16, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.

She was born May 31, 1933 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Teresa Kneidinger. She married Paul James Mercer on September 26, 1953 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Survivng are her husband, Paul; five children, Cindy Mercer, Rick Mercer, Kathy Bollinger, Mike Mercer and Joseph Mercer; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four siblings, Charles Angermeier, Jon Angermeier, Sophie Catherman, and Patricia Treese.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Angermeier and a brother Otto Kneidinger.

Ann was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

She retired in 1993 from Keith Junior High School as a cafeteria worker after 19 years of service and previously worked at Wright Elementary School.

She enjoyed bowling, crafts, playing cards and doing meals on wheels.

Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday February 20, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home, 1222 13 ^th Avenue.  A funeral mass will be held on February 21, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, PA 16601 at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Robert C. Mazur.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Chatham Center, Suite 1520 112 Washington Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
