Christopher E. Itle, 46, Altoona, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2026 in Palliative Care at UPMC Altoona after a life-long battle with Muscular Dystrophy and other health problems. He was born May 12, 1980, at Altoona Hospital, to Edward and Barbara (Myers) Itle. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his sister, Stephanie Itle-Clark, and her husband, Jason, and their foster son: Raven Brower; and his brother, Brian, and his son, Gage. He is also survived by his aunt and godmother, Annette Dorman, and her husband, Patrick, and sons: Matthew and Nathan (Emily); and his uncle, Ronald Itle, and his wife, Sandra, and their sons: Eric and Evan and their families; as well as his godfather, Thomas Sigrist, and his family. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Leonard and Anna Mae Myers and Regis and Maxine Itle; and uncles, Patrick and Francis Myers. Chris was a 1998 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and graduated from University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2002 with a BS degree in computer science. He was the computer problem solver for everyone who knew him. He was always generous with his time, and saw to it that all his family members had an up-to-date computer, while his own machine was 10 years old. He was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Church in Altoona. Chris enjoyed music of all kinds, from classical to techno. He was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins, and enjoyed Altoona Curve games with his nephew, Gage. He also enjoyed both college and NBA basketball as a fan of Duke and the New York Knicks, who he once saw play in Madison Square Garden. His final generous act was his request to donate his body for use in medical education and research through Humanity Gifts Registry. Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial Mass on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, 511 20th Street, Altoona, with the Rev. L’ubomir Strecok. Donations in Christopher’s memory may be made to the Food Pantry located at Sacred Heart Church.
