Elmer H. Bathurst, 88, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 10, 2026. He was born on July 30, 1937, in Altoona, son of the late Raymond R. and Margaret M. (Dibert) Bathurst. Elmer married Donna (Horner) on October 10, 1959, who survives. Surviving are two children; Raymond Craig Bathurst wife Marcia and Debra Plazio husband Steve. Also survived by 5 grandchildren: Heidi Copsey (Brian), Angela Miller, Jessica Gentile (Carmine), Matthew Palochak, Cora Baker, 3 great grandchildren: Vincent Sprouse, Carmine (Nooch) Gentile, and Leanna Sprouse, and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Collingwood, 2 brothers, Dale and Raymond Bathurst, his 2 sisters, Helen Joyce Figart and Maxine Upp, and by his childhood friend, Blaine Locke. Elmer served as an Airman in the US. Navy, where he toured the Mediterranean and was stationed in Brunswick Maine. After being employed by Dodson TV and SKF, Elmer became a self-employed home building contractor working with his son, Raymond Craig, and retired at the age of 80. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Altoona and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
