Esther J. Hill (Bubba), 84 of Altoona passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

She was born May 2, 1930 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Alfred and Blanche (Rausch) Barkley. She married Robert A. Hill in 1952; he preceded her in death on May 31, 1999.

Esther was the owner of Ester’s Resale Dress Shop for 10 years. She also worked as a secretary at Standard Supply & Equipment Company. She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School. Esther enjoyed her family; friends; traveling; and her dog Maggie.

She is survived by 4 children, Sheree Sheridan (Richard) of Hagerstown, MD; Robert Hill (Cindy) of Anderson, SC; Robin Harvey (William) and Polly Weston (John) both of Altoona; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Bubba was preceded in death by a brother Richard Barkley, step sister Martha Jane Newkirk, and step brother Charles Pannebaker.

Friends will be received Friday November 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service held at 7:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Peggy Bonsell officiating. Interment will take place privately at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
