Francis Paul "Frank" Kapfhammer, 63 of Altoona, Pa. died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at UPMC Altoona, after an extended illness.

Mr. Kapfhammer was born in Altoona December 16, 1951, son of the late Carl M. Geraldine M. (Strittmatter) Kapfhammer. He married E. Rae Airhart May 25, 1974 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona.

He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Altoona, Pa.

Frank is survived by his wifw and a son Joseph A. Kapfhammer at home, 7 siblings Richard Kapfhammer of Baltimore, MD, Thomas Kapfhammer of Frederick, MD, MaryAnn Green of Burgettstown, Pa. Kathleen Clapper of Ashville, Pa. Miriam Williams, Daniel Kapfhammer and Collette Evangerlisto all of Altoona. He is also survived by 7 godchildren George Clapper Jr, Robert Green, Adam Clapper, Terrence Green, Gabriel Kapfhammer, Therese Kapfhammer and Courtney Brennan and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by an infant child, Francis Rae Kapfhammer, a bother James Kapfhammer and a sister Jone McDonald.

Frank was 1969 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. He granduated ascfarrier from Penn State and also granduated from machinist's school. He was a member of the William Pann Association and a past member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He enjoyed raising trout, his dogs, the outdoors and was an avid Mustang enthusiast.

He retired as a machinist at Conrail in 1978 with 2 years of service. He previously worked at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Nabisco and the Altoona Mirror.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 4-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
