Mr. George B. Jacobs, age 82, of Altoona, Pa, died at 9:40 PM, Sunday, April 12, 2015 at UPMC - Altoona, after complications from pulmonary fibrosis.

Mr. Jacobs was born in Dean, Pa. on May 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Gerald F. and Edith (Plunket) Jacobs. He married Doris J. (Miller) September 22, 1956 at ST. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona.

He retired in 1986 as an installer at AT&T with 19 years of service.

He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Altoona, Pa.

George was graduate of Cresson High School. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed conversation "He never met a stranger" He was never at a loss for words. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spending time in Florida during the winter.

He served as an Airman 1st Class with the United States Air Force.

He is survived by a son Barry J. (Becky) and a daughter Dianne L. Jacobs both of Altoona, 2 graddaughters, Erin and Hannah Jacobs, and one grandson, Elijah Shover. He is survived by 5 siblingd: Louise Conrad of Altoona, Lorraine Gregg of Dean, Pa, Pat Conzo of Altoona, Donna Reed, of Belvedere, NJ; and Jim Jacobs, of Dean, Pa. George was preceded in death by 4 siblings: infant Helen Jacobs, Paul Jacobs, Fred Jacobs, and Geri Peno.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Altoona, Pa. at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 with Fr. D. Timothy officiating.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery Altoona.

Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Wednesday, April 15,2015 at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held at 7:00 PM.
