James H. Bowser Sr., 87, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at UPMC Altoona Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on March 27, 1938, in Altoona to the late Mearl and Lilly (Sleek) Bowser. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth to those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline (Williams) Bowser; his sons, James Bowser Jr. (Christine) and Rob Bowser; and his eight cherished grandchildren, Lily, Matthew, Robby, Katie, Stacy, Christy, Nicole, and Richard Jr., who brought him great pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Glunt, and by a granddaughter, Christy Glunt. Jim deeply enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid attendee of car shows and loved being outdoors, especially enjoying hunting. He also had a deep love for music and found great joy in playing his guitars, often sharing that passion with those around him. A celebration of James’s life will be held in the spring with family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
