James C. Phelan, age 76 of Altoona, died Tuesday evening 12/12/2023 at Maybrook Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.  He was born in Philipsburg 02/28/1947, a son of the late James P. and Helen G. (Wheston) Phelan.  Surviving are daughters:  Cindy and Cristy; a son, James; several grandchildren; sisters:  Lydia P. Phelan, Doris Jarett and Jean Phelan; brothers:  Jerry and Allen.  Jim had worked at Marhoffer's Bakery as a packer, then was a delivery man for Altoona News Agency.  At the request of the deceased there  will be no public viewing or funeral service.
