James Richard Rourke Jr., 63, Altoona, died Thursday at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late James Richard and Blondina Sophia (Kelley) Rourke.

He retired in 2001 as a root owner/operator of Stroehmann Foods with 13 years’ service. He previously worked for Proctor Silex for 15 years.

Jim had attended Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

He was a 1975 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and playing pool. He was past member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood.

Jim is survived by three children: James Richard Rourke III, of Altoona, Lori Jolene (Chris Shaw) Rourke, of Tyrone, and Patrick Rourke, of Altoona; and a sister, Sharon M. (Rich) Conte, of Altoona. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

Mr. Rourke was preceded in death by three sisters: Susan Elizabeth Rourke, Bonnie S. Thornsberry and Joyce Rourke.

A funeral service outside of Mass will be celebrated at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona, PA at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, with Monsignor Stanley B. Carson, celebrant.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
