Jean Marie Reighard, 88, Altoona, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Born June 16, 1936, Altoona, daughter of the late Sylvester A. and Anna F. (Kirk) Griffith. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas J. Reighard, whom she married on October 19, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church, Altoona; granddaughter, Sasha Macfarlane; sisters, Mary Lou Amigh, Jacqueline Sheehan, Carmen Pequignot, Martha Branic, and Betsy Cignetti; sisters-in-law, Marcella Hunter and Dorla Reighard; brothers-in-law, Paul Amigh, Ronald Sheehan, William Pequignot, James Reighard, and Gerard Reighard; and grandson-in-law, Scott Macfarlane. Survived by her children, Tina Reighard-Foltynewicz; and Christopher Reighard and wife, Shelly; grandchildren, Chris (Victoria) Reighard, Thomas Foltynewicz, Joel Reighard, Julie Reighard, Ryan Reighard and Chad Reighard; sister-in-law, Jolinda Reighard; brothers-in-law, Ben Branic, Joe Cignetti and William Hunter; and many nieces and nephews. Jean was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from the Altoona Area School District as a student transport driver. She also worked as a cook for Health South and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament cafeteria. Jean was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Altoona and the Alzheimer’s Support Group, where she served as the co-coordinator for over 20 years. Jean had a love for drawing, sewing and the creative arts and was extremely talented. Because of her talent, she won a scholarship to attend the Moore Institute for Women in Philadelphia. Jean also enjoyed playing cards and Polka dancing. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family. Friends and family will be received Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., First Lutheran Church, 1401 12th Ave., Altoona, Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiant. Private inurnment Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries 916 Hickory street Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 in Jean’s memory.
