Jeffrey E. Cruthers, 60, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at his home. Born December 9, 1964, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Sherry D. (Irvin) Galloway and Paul P. Cruthers Jr. Jeffrey will be remembered by his family and those who knew him for the moments and memories shared throughout his life. He was the father of Justin Cruthers, Jeffrey Cruthers, Shelby Cruthers, and Emily Bookhamer, and a grandfather to five grandchildren. He is also survived by Brenda Eckard, the mother of his four children, and his siblings, Butch Cruthers, Dave Cruthers, and Melanie Miksovsky. Jeffrey was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed following his team, especially during football season. He appreciated the simple things in life, especially gardening and growing his infamous sunflowers, which became a memorable part of his life and something his family will always remember. Jeffrey faced his share of struggles throughout his life, but those who knew him also knew the good in him. He had a kind heart, a good sense of humor, and a way of leaving memories with the people around him. His life was not perfect, but it was his own, and he will be remembered with love by those whose lives he shared. At his request, there will be no viewing. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
