Joan A. "Jo" Hirt 86, of Hollidaysburg, died at 5:25 AM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Hirt was born in Altoona, Pa. on July 30, 1928, daughter of the late William C. and Ann E. (Fagan) Twyford. She married merle M. Hirt September 2, 1950 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altoona. He died September 1, 2012.

She retird in 2002 as a Tip-Staff at Blair County Court of Common Pleas, Hollidaysburg with 8 years of service. Previously, she was a secretary at American Standard.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Altoona, Pa.

Joan is survived by 4 children Ann E. (Skip) Flick, of Altoona, William M. Hirt (Fiancee' Ernestine Chapman) of Grand Junction, CO; (Jill) Hirt, of Duncansville, Pa. and Sarah J. (Edward) Shaw, of Altoona. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren Amy Bennett, Becky and Michael Flick, Julie Jessup, Jason and Brandon Hirt, Michael and Melanie Shaw and 5 great grandchildren. Joan was preceed in death by 2 sister Catherine Twyford and Geraldine Schreiber.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Altoona, with Fr. James D. Zatalava officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, PA.

Friends will be received Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 3-6 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
