Kathleen A. Schirf, 75, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at UPMC Altoona. She was born on November 20, 1950, in Altoona, daughter of Ambrose L. and Irene E. (Chambers) O’Hara. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Patrick O’Hara. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William; children, Patrick and wife, Luz; Thomas and wife, Brittany; and Cristina and husband, Ahmed; grandchildren, Sofi, Raymond and Grace; niece and nephew, Lori Marple & Michael O’Hara; and sister-in-law, Janet O’Hara. Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Altoona High. She had been employed as the head clerk for the Altoona Water Authority and an office worker for the Blair County Courthouse and Ward Trucking. Kathy was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Church Ladies Guild, Juniata Elementary School PTO, Juniata Civic Association, and Altoona Area High School and former Keith Jr. High School Band Parent. She loved all things arts & crafts, especially ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and counted cross stitch. Kathy also enjoyed Christmas shopping for her family and grandchildren. Most importantly, Kathy’s greatest joy was her family, and her life was a testament to generous service within her community. Friends and family will be received Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 3-7 p.m., Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., Altoona, where a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11 a.m., Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N. Fourth St., Altoona, Rev. Nelson Javier, T.O.R. celebrant. Committal Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
