Lynda Sue Pilkington, 63, Altoona, died Sunday February 12, 2017 at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

She was born November 10, 1953 in Birmingham, Ala., daughter of the late George and Barbara Pilkington.

Surviving are her lifetime friend, Sara J. Newman; and many of adopted children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, Altoona.

Lynda was a 1972 graduate Woodland High School. She received her associates degree in hotel and restaurant management in 2010 from Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts, where she was in the National Honor Society.

She was a foster grandparent and a volunteer at UPMC Altoona.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and fishing.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, Altoona.
