Mrs. Martha Jayne Maurer, age 91, of Rockville, MD, formerly of Altoona, Passed away at 6:25 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at her residence, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Maurer was born in Altoona, Pa on February 18, 1929, daughter of the late George William and Anna Elva (Greene) McGann. She married John Paul Maurer November 15, 1947 in Glassboro, NJ. He preceded her in death July 13, 1995.
Martha retired in 1999 as a courier with Roche Laboratories Altoona with 25 years of service. She also worked at Roaring River Mills.
She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.
Martha attended Altoona High School.
She is survived by 8 children William G. (Noreen) Maurer, of Fairhope, AL; John P. (Susan) Maurer, of Altoona, Pa; Kevin M. (Karen) Maurer, of Pittsburgh, Pa; Paula Henderson, of Rockville, MD; James T. (Naomi) Maurer, of New Orleans, LA; Christopher J. (Bonnie) Maurer, of Gaithersburg, MD; Mary J. Maurer, of Rockville, MD; Melissa J. (Bradford) Adams, of Rockville, MD; Daughter-in-law Kathy Maurer, of Altoona, Pa. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, John Paul Maurer, a son George McGann Maurer, a daughter – in – law Kathy R. Maurer son – in – law Bryan Henderson and 4 siblings Jay and William Glass, Alyce McGann and Patricia Auerbeck.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 with Msgr. Stanley B. Carson officiating.
Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
Friends will be received Monday June 8, 2020 from 1-4 PM at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
