Mary Regina “Jean” Schneiderbauer, 80, of Altoona, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Hilltop Heights Health & Rehab Center in Johnstown. She was born April 25, 1945, in Altoona, daughter of the late Herman and Josepha (Ropp) Elder. Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Svitana and by her brother, C. Joseph Elder. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Schneiderbauer, her son, Jon Schneiderbauer wife Melissa, her granddaughter, Paige Schneiderbauer, and two great grandchildren, Rozlynn and Kolbee. Also surviving is her sister, Donna Pike (Bob), and many nieces and nephews. Jean was a 1963 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She retired after 24 years of service as and administrative assistant for The Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona – Johnstown. Jean enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping, and was an avid Penn State and Steeler fan. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4p.m. until 7p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday April 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Lubomir J. Strecok officiant. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.
