Stephen P. McConnell, 69 of Altoona, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at UPMC - Altoona after an extended illness.

He was born October 26, 1947 in Altoona, son of the late George P. and Mildred E. (Wilson) McConnell. He married Rosemary Cataldo April 15, 1972 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona.

He is survived by his wife and 4 children, Christopher A. (Dorothy) McConnell, Erin E. McConnell and Corey A. (Adam) Craw all of Altoona and Sean P. (Elizabeth Egan ) of State College, Pa. Six granddaughters Sydnee, Janis, Carlee, Kennedy, Ruby and Margaret. Two siblings David A. "Hap" McConnell of Austin, Texas and Edward McConnell of Florida.

Stephen was a 1965 graduate of Altoona Area High School and received an Associat Degree from Penn State University.

Steve was a US ARMY veteran of the Vietnam War.

He retired in 2010 as a Meddical Technologist from Bon Secours Hospital with 26 years of service.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, sports, especailly the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, reading, fishing and the beach.

Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:15 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home where a Funeral Service Outside of Mass will be Celebrated at 6:15 PM with Fr. Brian Saylor officating.
