Theresa R. Gallagher, 93, of Altoona, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday September 20, 2025. She was born on October 15, 1931, in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Katherine (Beckel) Smeltzer. Theresa was twice married to Jack Bowers and then to Russell Gallagher both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter Judith (Dennis) Knox with whom she resided. Also surviving are grandchildren Kristin (Corey) Pincherri, Mallory (Justin) Petucci, Jake Bowers, and Alexandra Wilinski. Also surviving are great grandchildren Camden Filer, Hunter, Connor, and Dominic Pincherri, Liam Johnston, Luca Petucci, Charlotte Jordan, and Ari Wilinski. Theresa was preceded in death by her daughter Sally Wilinski and by her son Jeffrey Bowers. She was employed at Veeder Root until her youngest child, Sally, was born at which time she became a stay-at-home mother. Her intertests were reading her Bible, playing Scrabble, playing cards and bingo; but her greatest pleasure was being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Theresa loved the Lord and her favorite Bible verse is Galatians 2; 20 which reads; I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loves me, and gave himself for me. The family would like to share the following verse from 1st Thessalonians 4: 13 -18; I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as those who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even to them which also sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say on to you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Finally, The family wishes to thank Jendie Hoover of Bright Star and Village In Place hospice nurses Leah and Heather for their kindness, caring and compassion. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Dr., Altoona, PA 16602. Condolences may be made at RoseHillFuneralCare.com.
