Mrs. Virginia L. Murphy, 91, of Altoona, Pa died at 11:50 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Health Center, Altoona.

Mrs. Murphy was born in East Landsdowne, Pa on October 3, 1927, daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Englert) Barnes. She married Robert J. Murphy May 9, 1964 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Altoona. He died March 28, 2006.

She retired in 1989 as a Cashier in Food Production at Altoona Campus of Penn State University – Office of Housing and Food Service Altoona with 4 years service.

She was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Altoona, Pa.

Mrs. Murphy attended Altoona High School. She was a member of William Penn Association, Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, and past member of AARP and St. Therese Altar & Rosary Society She enjoyed.

She is survived by a daughter Paulette L. Hein, of New Kensington, Pa. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Shane and Sarah Murphy and Scott Thompson and Christine Clark 2 great grandchildren Matthew and Kevin Leas and a sister Jean L. Herbert of Altoona, Pa. She was preceded in death by a son Sean Murphy a brother Ray Eugene Barnes and a sister Roberta D. Wissinger.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 2,2019 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona, Pa with Fr. D. Timothy Grimme officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Saturday March 2, 2019 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
