Mr. William S. “Bill” Luther, 83, of Duncansville, Pa died at 5:38 PM, Monday, July 6, 2020 Altoona, after an extended illness.

Bill was born in Altoona, Pa on July 24, 1936, son of the late Stanley M. and Madeline M. (Crist) Luther. He married Loretta A. Smith at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

He retired from Sears Altoona with 10 years of service. He previously retired from Warnaco as a Knitter/ Pattern Cutter with 25 years of service.

He was a member of St. Rose Of Lime Catholic Church Altoona, Pa.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren and their activities, playing cards and bowling.

He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Bill is survived by his wife and 3 sons Richard T. (Monica) Luther, of Duncansville, Pa; Michael J. (Beth) Luther, of Altoona, Pa; and Robert E. (Jane) Luther, of Duncansville, Pa; 4 siblings Mary Catherine (Richard) Douglas, of Reisterstown, MD; Michael Herman (Valerie) Luther, of Richmond, VA; Lucinda A. Bryan, of Goose Creek, SC; and Patricia Sipes, of Ormond Beach, FL. Bill is survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings Joanne Stephens, Gerald Luther, Richard Luther and James J. Luther.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose Of Lime Catholic Church, Altoona, Pa at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 with Fr. Brian R. Saylor officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Friday, July 10, 2020 4-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be celebrated during the visitation.
